Hard to say. It was definitely planned to have the BMT Bway Subway utilize the CPW route that eventually went to the IND although possibly with a slightly different routing uptown. Actually, after Hylan was out of office and most of the bad blood had disappeared, the BMT was offered the rights to operate the new subway lines but refused unless it were allowed to raise the fare above a nickel which was of course denied. I have a photo of n R-1 mockup (taken where, I don’t know) but it shows a number instead of a letter in its roll sign box seeming to indicate that had the BMT taken operation of the new lines, the BMT’s numbering system started with the D types would have been continued. In all probability, rather than a Fulton St subway, the unmodified remainder of the Fulton St el structure would have been upgraded for steel cars and connected either to the BMT 4 Av subway or the new subway that was being built and eventually operated by the IND.
