It's still going to be about twice as expensive as catenary.But the rail cars become much more expensive if they need to be able to handle both catenary and third rail. See MNRR. Also, LI is more subject to hurricane force winds than the NE Corridor. That could increase the cost of catenary relative to what it costs in MNRR territory. |
