"Car equipment suits felt all this adding and cutting was putting too much stress on the electric portions leading to failures (especially doors failing to open), which led to lower MDBF which led to car equipment looking bad. Again, I am just being the messenger here, this is not necessarily my opinion."That would explain for decades they ran 11 car trains on the Flushing line 24/7 For awhile they would cut them up into 4 & 5 car trains overnight & stored the rest of the cut up trains on the middle track between Willets Pt & Main St. to be reassembled before the next AM rush. When they realized how expensive & hard on the equiptment this process was, they just went back to leaving the 11 car consists alone. |
