Problem is, the moment you stop sending money to the red states, is the moment potatoes become $20/lb in the grocery store.

The red states that get the heavy subsidies aren't the ones that provide huge amounts of food.

IA, KS, ND, SD, NE are prosperous red states that provide huge amounts of grain and don't get big (if any) federal subsidies. Vegetables mostly come from CA, and IL is also a huge provider of grain.

Beef also mostly comes from blue states and prosperous red states.
