However, the Pitkin Av portion of the Fulton St el was pretty much replaced by the IND subway which runs under the same street. The subway did not have as many stations as the el, but in all likelihood, if the el structure had been rebuilt to dual contract standards instead of replaced by the subway, some of the el stations would have been eliminated anyhow. |
