Even before Dr Ronan the pre MTA TA was Manhattan centric when they eliminated the Southern Div BMT branch lines from the roll signs on the R-32s and 38s. Even the inclusion of the BMT’s Manhattan Bway Line on the R-27/30 roll signs was getting a little too Manhattanish since under the BMT’s line numbering system, the branch lines carried the same number whether the trains operated vis Bway or Nassau St. Under the BMT the Bkln branch line name was more important than the line it operated on in Manhattan.
