Re: VIDEO: R46 (C) Train, (D) via 8th Av, (E) via 6th Av, & (1) Train via the (3) Line

They will still need about 6 more full length (600') trains to completely fill out the C with 600' trains. They could easily do this by simply swapping the 88 8-car R160s now running on the C with the 52 R68s now running on the G, resulting in 6 additional full length trains for the C, so that it becomes 100% full length while at the same time the G's length is increased to 480' (instead of the present 300') to help it handle the extra crowds during the Canarsie tunnel project. The advantage of having R68s on the C is that the roll signs won't have to be changed since the terminals (168 St and Euclid Av) are always the same unless there's a G.O. All of the 8-car R179s can go to the J/Z, making it 100% R179. The 56 (7 trains) R160s now running on the J/Z can be used to increase service on the M and/or G. The 40 R46s (5 trains) now running on the C can return to the A, enabling the retirement of all but one or two of the R32 sets now running on the A. The rest of the R32s and 42s can be retired or put into reserve storage. Since the A and C will be 100% full length, they can swap train sets between them if needed.
