The pillar structure was inside a building being demolished on the northeast corner of Lexington and Grand Aves. Photos of it were posted here, years ago.

Ashland Place was doomed by Hylan's opposition and the BRT bankruptcy. The reorganized BMT did not want to spend money ($8 million) to buy 200 additional steel subway cars, needed for Fulton St service. In addition, , the line would have to be rebuilt from Utica Ave to Ashland Pl, and from Atlantic Ave to beyond Grant Ave.
