Re: [PHOTOS] Fulton St. & Franklin Ave. 1980-81

AWESOME! I've been looking for modern photos of the Fulton el remnants, since my pics (from my very first photo trip in the mid-'90s) were, um, lacking.

pic #1: from what I can tell, wasn't the stairway closest to you the one that was closed? I vaguely remember going up the next set of stairs to get to the shuttle platform. As a trivia note, on the landing for the latter set, there was an abandoned(?) underpass to the old downtown Brighton platform, and a corresponding closed-off stair entrance. Many old features were never removed until demolition!

pic #2,3: After (what seemed to me) a long period of not using the Franklin Ave shuttle until I was a high schooler ('78-'82), I remember that much of the Fulton remnant was still decked over with wood. When did they decide to cut back on the decking?

As a side note, when I went then the tower next to the shuttle still left their window(s) open. When I went back in the '90s, the window(s) had thick sheets of plastic over them, presumably to stop bullets. :-S

pic #4: by the mid-'90's, I'm not sure if the wooden planks were still there.

pic #5,7: the building was still there in the mid-'90s but it was a lot more dilapidated.

Thank you so much for posting these!
