Posted by Mitch45 on Tue Aug 8 18:02:44 2017 I've always wondered about this.The last stop on the QB line is 179th Street and Hillside Avenue. 179th Street is really a nondescript location to have a station terminal. There are no connecting bus lines other than the Hillside Avenue and the street itself dead ends at Hillside Avenue. There are 8 tracks beyond 179th Street that are used for storage. They end at 184th Street. Why didn't the MTA ever just extend that tunnel four blocks and create a new terminal at 188th Street? It is a major intersection that serves 10 bus lines for both Queens and Nassau County. Any subway extension into eastern Queens would be welcome but this one seems like something that would be very popular and useful. |
