Considering WMATA started running after the NYCTA already had tunnel washing and vacuum cleaning trains, it’s surprising that WMATA didn’t think to purchase such equipment especially since they shut down at night and use of this equipment would be easier than in NY where tracks have to be shut down by GO to do the work. WMATA and other latter day transit systems were supposed to be state of the art and not subject to the problems that the older systems had. |
