This happened Friday, a similar indecent happened upstairs on Sunday evening.99% of these "smoke issues" are directly related to stray current. WMATA has no equipment dedicated to the task of washing and or vacuuming the track bed and tunnels. They also don't have any equipment dedicated to the task of cleaning third rail insulators. The way they address the issue is by changing out the dirty ones for new ones after the crud accumulated on them and begins to burn. John in the sand box of Maryland's eastern shore. |
