Plenty of New Yorkers refer to the elevated sections of the subway as "The Subway" because the majority of the New York City Transit Authority underground & elevated rapid transit railroad lines also run underground in the higher density sections of Manhattan and New York City.Since the 1950's there have been ZERO rapid transit railroad lines that operated on elevated railroad lines within the downtown and midtown Manhattan core of the city. So yes - it is all the "Subway". Mike |
