That’s the impression I got which is why I mentioned it. Since it’s been over 40 years since the last free standing el in NY ceased operation, very few if any New Yorkers make reference to the “el" or the “L” referring to everything as the “subway” or on occasion “elevated subway lines” for those portions of subway lines that operate on el structures. |
