"Closing one tunnel and not the other is a dumb idea, because there is no way to move all of the trains to Manhattan and have no way to get them back. Besides the whole point is to fix the tunnels."There are crossovers east of Union Square and west of Lorimer that would permit two-way operation into and out of Manhattan. Obviously rush hour train frequency would have to be severely decreased, but it sure is possible. Not saying it's the best option. |
