Back then, a bunch of R-1/9s that were already sold for scrap had to be kept in service because of delivery delays and mechanical issues with other car classes, including the then-new R-44 fleet. The TA ended up having to pay the salvage dealer for the use of the cars! A messy mess!At least NYCT didn't make THAT mistake again...but I'll bet somebody at Headquarters is wishing they hadn't reefed half the R-32 fleet to begin with... |
