I stand corrected on the Clinton/Washington, however, the reason for the double named on the Concourse Line has to do with the unique construction of the thoroughfare itself. Many of the streets along the Concourse pass under the thoroughfare rather than directly intersecting it. So at a station like 174/175 for example one set of staircases goes UP to the street that intersects the concourse at street level whereas the set of staircases at the other end goes DOWN to the street that passes under the Concourse. |
