The Concourse does offer some unique station designs, but at 174-175, both those streets go under the Concourse (through beautiful arches), and the stairs that go up take you to exits on the Concourse where there are no intersections at all because the streets are below. The stairs that go down take you to 174 St under the arch. The stairs down to 175 St have been closed off for years and the opening in that arch is sealed.Regardless of the interesting station configuration, the station could have been called either "174 St" or "175 St", even with exits to both streets. Also interesting, the white-on-black station-name wall tiles say only "174" on the south half of the platform and only "175" on the north half, unlike, say, the former Broadway-Nassau, where the wall tiles alternated between BWAY and NASSAU all along the platform and didn't just say BWAY at the Broadway end and NASSAU at the Nassau St end. 174 St, under the Concourse: 175 St, under the Concourse: |
