That's because the subways really can't afford to cure concrete properly. Water-cured concrete needs to set for SEVEN DAYS in order to reach 50% of its ultimate strength. Left alone without getting hammered for TWO WEEKS assures that it will pretty much last forever. I can't see shutting down a subway line for two weeks to do things right, thus these results. |
