The real question here is why any sane person would want to enter an area that has been reported to be infested with poison ivy. For all we know, it probably has chiggers and mosquitos as well. Look what happened to Steve Irwin, and he was a professional.

Steve Irwin was attacked by a stingray. I don't think there are many of those in the wilds of Queens. Chiggers are unheard of in the northeast and are even less dangerous than ticks. Long sleeves and long pants combat almost all of the potential dangers that lurk along the ROW. The amount of hysteria here makes me wonder how many New Yorkers ever walk on something not made of concrete...
