I don't think this was necessarily a good decision as if it had continued running it wouldn't have been any worse than it is now. I was under the impression that it was shut down not due to cost but due to the desire of local authorities to remove grade crossings. Of course, that would have hurt road traffic, which is more beneficial to the area today than the old connection. |
