It would be a classic railfan boondoggle to restore that stretch of track. You would have to spend some ungodly sum of money to re-build a short section of track, pay off assorted NIMBY's and you would be left with a track connection with no stations that bypasses the most transit-dependent community usedful destination in the area. It would effectively become the G train of the LIRR.While many railfans might disagree, some of the decisions that were made in the past were actually good decisions. |
