MTA Long Island Rail Road Proposed Service Investments
MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) will hold a public hearing on a plan to restore weekend service on the West Hempstead Branch year-round.

Date and Place of the Hearing

Monday, September 15, 2014
Start Time: 5:00 p.m. (Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. and closes at 8 p.m.)

West Hempstead Branch Weekend Service

The LIRR would restore weekend and holiday train service on the West Hempstead Branch, effective Saturday, November 22, 2014. Weekend/holiday trains would operate every two hours between West Hempstead and Penn Station/Atlantic Terminal with connecting service at Valley Stream and Jamaica Station. Currently, no West Hempstead Branch trains operate on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays.

By Rail: LIRR (West Hempstead Branch) to the Malverne Station; Head southwest on Hempstead Avenue for 413 feet. Turn left onto Church Street. Proceed along Church Street for 2/10 of a mile. Malverne Village Hall will be on the left.
By Bus: N31/32

Registration to speak will remain open until 8 p.m. on the date of the hearing. Oral testimony is limited to three (3) minutes for each speaker. To register in advance to speak at the hearing or for more information, please call 646-252-6777. Deaf/hearing impaired customers should call 711 for relay services, and then ask to be connected to 646-252-6777 to speak with an agent.

Written comments may be sent to LIRR Government & Community Affairs, Jamaica Station, Mail Code 1131, Jamaica, NY, 11435 or submitted via email through the MTA website, www.mta.info. The deadline to receive written comments is September 19, 2014. All comments will be transcribed and made part of the permanent record to be reviewed by the MTA Board.
Accessibility and Interpreter Services

The hearing has been scheduled at a location that is accessible to the mobility impaired. An interpreter for hearing impaired customers will be available upon advance request (made no later than September 10, 2014).
