No One Has Chicago's Tower 18 |

Posted by ChicagoPCCLCars on Thu Jul 24 12:13:03 2014 The "Loop" opened all the way around in Oct. 1897. So successful was the electric powered Intramural railroad at the Colmabian Wolds Fair, that the Metopolitan West Side Elevated cancelled steam in favor of electric power but the Met wouldn't be the first in the world, they lost out to the Sioux City Elevated Railway the first electric-powered elevated railway in the world. On the Loop "L", only the South Side "L" ran steam around the downtown. The Lake Street transitioned to electric power in Sept., 1896; South Side to electricity in Apr., 1898..The SB rerouted Brown train enters the ''Loop" at Tower 18. A northbound Green line train exits. Tower 18 is 6/8 of a grand union. The CTA "L" does a place called a "grand junction." We are facing north on the only track that has three routings: Pink line to the left; Orange line to the right; Purple line straight ahead. What lineup is set now? The business end. |
