You could be right. Train lines encourage high-density housing with the concommitant strain on utilities, water, sewer, etc. as well as schools.

The down-side of train-free zones is that a car becomes almost indispensible and once a car becomes the knee-jerk, primary mode of transit, then the same people start to do dumb things, like drive into Manhattan. Tolls on ALL East River bridges!!
