I've always said that the system would have become too costly to run had it all been built. If you thought the 1980's were bad, imagine having to run a system much larger with the same amount of money. More els would have been abandoned. It would have taken many more years to recover. I think it's actually a good thing that parts of the 5 boros aren't accesable by subway. |
