If there had to be pipe-type railings, I'd put them about 2-3 feet from the platform edge, at various points along the platform, with maybe each pipe-rail-section about - 4 or 5 or 6 feet long. Long enough so that folks can hold on, lean on or rest on, or grab on while at the platform, and enough of a distance away from the edge for safety. And enough of a distance away from the edge so that if the doors open in front of a railing, the riders can still exit and enter the train. At the same time, these kinds of railings do not "lock in" a particular door arrangement upon any of the subway cars.Just my thoughts. Mike |
