Had they built a 2nd Avenue subway in the 1950's, the car that would have been in mass production for it would have been the R16.Be careful what you wish for. The TA (or B of T) tried Budd with the R11, then got cheap with ACF and st Louis. Went back to Budd for the R32, then got cheap again, and bought St Loui's rust-buckets, 1,352 of them for the "B" Divsion. All but 113 are gone. 230 R32's still exist. |
