One of the reasons was that while we reduced the field shunting on the R-46 by permanently invoking the energy conservation mode, the R-44 speed was reduced by changing the software on the E-Cams. The outcome was a better accelerating train. Incidentally, if you knew which single wire to cut, you could restore the R-46 to it's 55 MPH top end in a matter of minutes. |
