The arrangements made with the MTA were likely a sublease rather than a direct lease which would have had to be done with the city. back in the early 1960s pre MTA, the original pre Bob Diamond Historic Railways museum negotiated with the NYCTA for sale of the old trolley ROW between Neptune Av and the old w 5 St trolley depot. The NYCTA gave the museum the OK but couldn't finalize the deal since the ROW and W 5 St depot were both owned by the City of NY and the city would have to finalize the deal. The "Donald's" father, Fred Trump made the city a better offer and got the ROW and associated property instead. |
