One initial thought was to repaint the car interiors in a similar scheme as the R160's, but that this idea has been dropped as a cost saving measure to the remaining 45 year old equipment.Darn. Yes it is cheaper to not repaint, but repainting the interior would vastly improve customer perception of the cars. Yes, structural reinforcement and rebuilt trucks are important, but regular passengers do not notice this. Some *did* notice the floor replacement and they would definitely notice a new paint job. Repaint the interior, replace the end LCD's with LEDs, and they're ready to go for another 45 years :). |
