It *can* be made ... operative phrase. If you look into the failure modes in the contract though, you'll see that in this case, it wasn't at all. That's why it's got to be replaced. It's all about how it's mixed and how it's reinforced.Obviously, but that contradicts your original point that "'Cellular' concrete is typically suitable for a driveway." I haven't seen the contract, but I do have a fairly detailed handout on the project that Mysore Nagaraja gave out to my civil engineering class at the time. I'll see if I can find it. Recall that both of the two big materials testing labs in New York were just exposed for falsifying reports. If the poor quality of the concrete is indeed the result of some kind of fraudulent activity, that's where I would look first. |
