Because they aren't "mechanical reels". They are only spun after YOU press an electronic button, which then electronically tells the wheels to spin, and the computer also, through a predetermined result, tells them electronically where and when to stop.
It's not a game of chance, it's just as electronically determined as the slot machines with the screens.
