Forget about sending the C to Lefferts. That is political suicide on a fight that the MTA doesn't want to expend political capital on. It's DOA.I've outlined the two things that Resorts World could offer to pay for that based on prior experience there is some chance the MTA would accept. Suggesting things that the MTA are very unlikely to accept, such as super-expresses, even more peak only trains in the Cranberry St tunnel, and downgrading Lefferts to local service just mistakes who has the ultimate power to say yes or no. Casino patrons can pout and stamp their feet all they like, but they have much less political power than the neigborhoods along the Liberty Avenue El; the only power they have is financial, which is why I'm guessing that there is quite a likelihood of a subsidized extension of the shuttle to connect with the Lefferts A trains. |
