And as a practical matter, you do a system like this as a database that links to the sound files. You record each station name, each train name, and your various 'standard' announcements (e.g. "Watch the closing doors").Standard Announcements: [This is a] [local train] [to] [The next stop is] [Transfer is available to] [Stand clear of the closing doors] [trains] [and] Train Names: [4] [5] [6] [7] [Times Square Shuttle] Station Names: [42nd Street-Grand Central] So you build your announcements by selecting the items you need from each table, like so: [This is a][5][local train][to][Bowling Green][The next stop is][42nd Street-Grand Central][Transfer is available to][4][6][7][and][Times Square Shuttle][trains][Stand clear of the closing doors] In this way, you only need to record each item once; you build your 'route table' to include the list of stations you stop at. The annunciation program does the rest. |
