Actually, I would do Lion one better to increase the flow of traffic on the railroad.N Astoria to Coney Island via local via tunnel all the way all times. Uptown, there is only 1 merge (with the R) instead of 3 (D, Q, R). Downtown, there is only 1 merge (with the R) instead of 3 (R, Q, D). To boot, this increases service at the local stations on the 4th Av. (Brooklyn) corridor, which had service cut back last year. W Astoria to Canal St or Whitehall rush hours, as demand on the Astoria line warrants. Of course, padding schedules, as done now, is much more efficient for increasing on-time performance. |
