Depending on what a further investigation may demonstrate all I see are one or two A Misdemeanors, but even then New York has a pretty high threshold for “reckless” that those who don’t know New York Penal Law Section 15.05(3) would assume was met just by hearing the word.

I agree completely. In my neighborhood someone torched a NYPD Homeless Outreach Unit van, and a bakery that had a regular program to give away food got its window broken, among many others. However, the 75-year-old in Buffalo wasn't a vandal or looter.

They were marching in formation. I would say a slight push (that's what it looked like to me in the video) to someone deliberately getting into one's face would be the right thing to do.
