Well, that's never going to happen the liberals' way. Going to have to let go the government stranglehold and actually let the private sector do its thing.

Amazing how we survived two world wars without any type of welfare, right? (Not even Social Security was the behemoth it is now.)

fiogf49gjkf0d
What evidence do you have that the private sector has any interest in financing the rebuilding of our infrastructure?

For that matter, when has private industry ever self financed the construction of a significant fraction of our transportation infrastructure? The only thing I can think of would be the first railroads and some toll roads from the 1850s. All the western railroads were built with infusions of capital from the government in the form of land and homestead act settlers. Government has always been intimately involved in the building of transport infrastructure, so what compelling case can you make for this to change?

"Welfare" existed in both eras. FDR really enhanced what was then an inadequate system during the Depression. Changes in societal structure, such as the removal of taboo against women in the workkforce, chnged a lot and made millions less dependent on "welfare" from the government.

Don't spread your delusion to othes please. It's rude.

The routing through the Ogalalla Aquifer is reckless and it would raise gas prices in the US. Other than the hundreds or maybe a couple thousand construction jobs it would create, there's nothing good about it for us. Better to build a railroad that would actually benefit Americans.

Yes, because he never has any evidence for his delusions. It's the quickest way to call him on his bullshit.

But then he's getting his foreign policy "insight" from a cult newspaper, so merely making baseless claims regarding the efficacy of private investment is pretty far down Ology of (T)error.

Florida Power and Light did it right and now TECO needs to do the right thing and demolish TECO Big Bend on Apollo Beach once and for all. I outright refused to work routes into Ft. Lauderdale but now I can go there. You will recall I turned the whole operation at Tampa International backwards and upside down that night when I broke off the arrival and maneuvered against traffic in the opposite direction to avoid the TECO stacks. You watched from the rooftop in utter disbelief but I told you it was going to happen and I am nothing if not man of my word. Those smokestacks mesmerize pilots and act like a magnet or pitcher plant drawing them in just like when the runways are affected by magnets thereby forcing the pilots who are flying in clouds and can't see out the window to line up wrong and have to go missed approach and divert somewhere else and then the airport has to send out workers in straw hats with paint buckets to put different numbers on the runways. You once told us you are scared to fly in clouds. The whole thing makes no sense.
