Why? In populated areas, they have better security than most, and in less populated areas the owner pretty much knows the clientele, as well as who the kids are and will keep them away. The staff is also trained to request proof of age, especially unknown people.

"Dispensaries" may fit better into the medical meme. I thought we were discussing clear legalization along the lines of existing alcohol regulation.

It is an established bureaucracy that could easily expand to accommodate regulation needs for a new product. Its people are experienced (so as to train new personnel cost effectively) in handling same, and would be the least disruptive and probably fiscally reasonable means to handle legal pot distribution. Establishing new bureaucracy is expensive and time consuming (plus with the bunch we have in DC who knows what morass they'd come up with....ACA could have been done for much less by just opening Medicare to paying subscribers as an option and leaving the rest of the system alone, while using Medicaid money to subsidize those too poor to afford a Medicare subscription. It could have been phased in as well).

It is a bureaucracy that is unnecessary. All alcoholic beverages should be allowed to be sold in any store, at any time of day, in any neighborhood where grocery stores are allowed to be open. Bars should be allowed to sell alcoholic beverages for off-premises consumption as well, i.e. no distinction should be drawn between on and off premises sales.

This is a separate argument though, but I still believe that current tobacco regulation is an acceptable model, except that the marijuana age should match the drinking age (which should ALSO be 18, but that's another argument).

Wrong. The traditional retirement pension benefits, as supported by a lifetime of taxes paid must remain. After all, there's obligations in exchange or tax paid.

Expanding the system is what I'm talking about. With its significantly lower overhead it would be the ideal alternative to private, often for profit (which tax money should not be providing) insurance.

I disagree. Supermarkets would never provide the variety and guidance for the best possible purchase (in any price range) that a wine shop or liquor store can. I don't want to see them put out of business....adding pot to their offerings will help them to fight off competition (inevitably from the supermarkets) and enhance their chances of survival.

Liquor stores are a much nicer place to shop, as there rarely are screaming children and harried adults inside.

Perhaps some folks don't understand how it really works. Those paying into the system today are covering those on it today. If you decide to provide alternatives to the system, then that money won't be going into the system any longer, and those on it won't have services much longer.

All of this talk about "privatizing" it is intended to shut it down for those already collecting because "whoops ... no more money coming in to the pay as you go." The existing "trust fund" is merely a buffer between input and output.

Messing with one's natural hormonal feedback cycles is a very bad idea absent an actual issue causing imbalances. That can only be determined through blood monitoring. Aging of and by itself is NOT a legitimate cause for hormone supplementation. Despite what the TV ads say.

Someone that hates men doesn't enjoy living with one for over 35 years. Nor do they spend time in places like this.

Do understand that you,as an adult, can do whatever you want. If you think it'll make you look good, that's fine. I guess there are some women out there that would find that attractive. Do remember that it won't last. Do check out the relationship between hormone imbalance and congestive heart disease.
