Yeah, fine, but the GOP isn't saying get a free ID. They are charging and/or making it had to get IDs by issuing them only in limited offices, etc.

And it's a myth that almost everybody has ID. Lots of urban folks have no drivers license. Also many students. And many states do not allow student ID to count! Further, to get a non-drivers ID you need a birth cert., which many older folks have lost and can't easily get. So it's a mess all around, with no reason for it in the first place.

Yeah, but they usually get other forms of ID because you need ID for all sorts of stuff. Like getting a job, opening a bank account, or getting an apartment.

Further, to get a non-drivers ID you need a birth cert.,

States accept other forms of non-official ID for just that reason.

If you are going to require everyone have ID to vote and go to the post office to get it, why not make everyone get a passport too (which would work for voting ID purposes)? At what point does it end?

Requiring ID to vote is still not justified IMO, the risks of disenfranchisement outweigh the potential for fraud.

I much prefer having a civil rational debate with someone like him, who at least respects opposing opinions, even if he doesn't happen to agree. With some people here, disagreement has become a pissing contest based on partisan position.

The only people I am "disrespectful" to are those who have shown me the same disrespect simply for disagreeing with them. I never cast the first stone. While I would say 90% of the time you are also respectful, there are a few times you have also called me a "dick" or the like for disagreeing with you. I would hope it's done jokingly, as that's how I usually have taken it. Even RockParkMan's posts I know he is half assedly joking when he says some stuff here. But there are some here that are generally malicious when people disagree.
