Another sign he's RW |
|
Posted by bingbong on Thu May 3 11:25:57 2012 Rmoney kowtowed again to the RW extremists and canned one of the few considered competent in foreign policy aides he has. Because he's gay. More proof inclusiveness is foreign to republicans, more proof Rmoney will kowtow to the RW now and if in office..... |

What mystifies us is that there was NO real effort, publically, to get him to quit. The NYT is dead wrong there. So why did he quit? Make the issue go away? Pressure by gay rights activists embarassed a Republican candidate would have an openly gay spokesman? Pressure from a socially conservative bundler? Skeletons in Grenell's closet? Either way, a sad spectacle.Romney DID give him the job, so that pretty much proves he's no militant homophobe. |

This episode means that he is caving to pressures from the RW. If he does it once, he'll do it again. The article goes into what happened. Read it. Whether or not the pressure was public or not doesn't matter. Outcomes DO.It means he is NO centrist, like he's trying to claim. If he wanted the guy badly enough (and given he has no foreign policy he really could use someone with an awareness of same which Grenell has) he could have stood up for him. He didn't. flip FLOP. Thud. |

What mystifies us is that there was NO real effort, publically, to get him to quit. Why would that mystify you? The pressure was obviously private. And it wasn't on him to quit. It was on Romney to hide him from all public exposure. That in turn made him quit. I doubt he quit out of gay solidarity. If he's competent, he would have quit out of being shown that he wouldn't be allowed reasonable flexibility in how he could do his job. |

The only harsh critics of Grendell's hiring have been from the left. While some hardcore socially conservative organizations expressed disappointment, it was notably reserved and tame. Romney didn't really risk anything by hiring him, but could have potentially benefited big time by showing at least part of the GOP has given up the anti-gay crusade. That's why I suspect something else was going on. |

Your suspicions don't amount to a hill of beans compared to off-camera pressure of the RW. That the campaign was trying o hide him tells all. If they were ready to fight back, thy would have kept him up and active. If they were ready to, as you say "shown they've given up the anti-gay crusade", they would have fought for him. They didn't. They know towed to the RW extremists. They can't be trusted. |

I do not trust him one bit, especially after his kowtowing to the extremist RW and embracing the Ryan "budget".I do not trust him to keep his misogynist religion from intruding into his policy. Consider that the only other domestic policy position he's taking is "eliminating Planned Parenthood". He offers NO clear program, yet claims he'll fix the economy. How, exactly? You can't trust someone who offers no solutions and only tears down those in his way. Makes one wonder who in the population he'll tear down to get his way. |

I have no problem with the Jewish people as a whole, but there are some Jewish individuals I have issues with though those issues have nothing to do with their faith. They're just nasty hateful people. There are non Jewish hateful people I have equal issue with. Religion has nothing to do that. My own perspectives regarding myself are none of your business. |

The idea he was run out of the campaign because he was openly homosexual is laughable, because even ardent anti-gay activists on the right like Gary Bauer didn't object to Grendell's status as a homosexual. This is a little silly. Romney should ask for him to come back. No one of consequence seems to care about who he sleeps with. |

If we have a functioning economy we can increase taxes and lower spending to cover the deficit. You know, like the beginning of 2001.As any economist who knows what they’re talking about, you run a surplus in good years and a deficit in bad years. Problem was a certain president, who skipped his economics classes like he skipped a lot of other things, didn’t realize that and gave away the surplus to his cronies as almost the first thing he did in office. |
