Sounds to me as though if that's what they want, then they should ONLY fly Saudis in America too and nobody else. I'm sure they'll do just fine serving exclusively that clientele. |

No surprise. In 1991, my friend told me that his brother could not go to Saudi Arabia to help fight Iraq because he's Jewish. The Saudis and the US government worked out a deal which banned Jewish servicemen from entering their country. His brother was pissed too, because he was anxious to practice his tank driving skills in combat. |

George HW Bush of the House of Saud throwing Jews under the bus in favor of the interests of his fellow Saudi family members is no surprise but we no longer have bases there.Any carrier operating on US soil must respect the same non-discriminatory policies when it comes to public access and accommodations as all other for-profit businesses do. |

Delta is now saying that this was a internet rumor, and that Delta does not discriminate yet has to uphold all visa regulations set by the governments of the countries it serves. In other words, no one without a valid Saudi Arabian visa can get on a plane to Saudi Arabia. This makes perfect sense, since airlines are required to take passengers who do not have valid visas back to where they came from on the first flight, even if it means bumping other passengers to do so. When I flew USAirways to Brazil, I had an email within hours of booking my ticket reminding me I'd be denied boarding without the proper visa, and they had a visa check at the gate podium and no one was allowed on board if their boarding pass didn't have a stamp indicating they had shown the appropriate documents to gate personnel.More at http://content.usatoday.com/communities/Religion/post/2011/06/delta-airlines-no-jews-saudi-arabia/1?csp=hf |

In 1991, my friend told me that his brother could not go to Saudi Arabia to help fight Iraq because he's Jewish. The Saudis and the US government worked out a deal which banned Jewish servicemen from entering their country. That's a crock a shit. Either your friend lied or his brother did to him. There were plenty of Jewish soldiers in Saudi Arabia, including people in my unit. There were also Jewish chaplains. Your friend's brother probably had an embarrassing reason to not be sent to Saudi and that's the excuse he found to justify it. |

In other words, no one without a valid Saudi Arabian visa can get on a plane to Saudi Arabia.Exactly. This happens everywhere. No airline will let you on an international flight if they know you're going to be rejected at the far end. That's why you have to show your passport just to get on any international flight - you're allowed to leave the country without it, but if they know you'll just get sent back they don't want you on the plane in the first place. |

IIRC, no one asked to see my passport before I got on an American Airlines flight from JFK to Budapest in early May (though I did have to show it to check my luggage). Same goes for boarding Malev at Budapest to go to Tel Aviv (though I did clear Hungarian passport control just before boarding the plane). US citizens are required to have tourist visas in advance of going to Brazil, so it is necessary to check for that flight, and when I flew to Rome and was staying there for more than 90 days, I wasn't allowed to check in online because the system wanted someone at the airport to verify that I had a visa allowing me to stay for as long as I planned to, but I think more often than not, I have not needed to show my passport/visa to get on an international flight. |

I have no clue if non-Islamic religious articles are banned, and since I doubt the Saudi partner flies anywhere but Saudi Arabia, it is a practically moot point since few to no Jews would want to go to Saudi Arabia anyway.Imagine what would happen if El Al was in one of the big three airline alliances... |

I just recall showing my boarding pass for that flight. Since Hungary (and Israel, my final destination) both allow US citizens to enter for up to 90 days without a visa in advance, there was no need to check for Hungary (though I had an 11 hour layover or so, so I did leave the airport). However, I was on a OW ticket so perhaps they would have wanted to see my Israeli work permit. |

Interesting that you say that last part; El Al saw oneworld, SkyTeam, and Star Alliance all refuse El Al. The major reason for that is because El Al cannot offer any Middle Eastern route network to an alliance.More information. |

I'm not sure if the alliances rejected LY or if it was the other way around, and I've never heard of this new EW alliance. But El Al has next to nothing to offer to any alliance. The only routes I can think of off the top of my head where it doesn't have any competition are Johannesburg and Los Angles, and perhaps some of its SE Asia routes. LY codeshares with AA and B6 but due to the FAA downgrade of the IAA, you can't buy a ticket for LY from the American carriers. The fact that US-TLV is a very lucrative market for any airline entering it (I'm not sure about from Europe but my guess is London-TLV and CDG-TLV do very well too) doesn't exactly give the airlines any reason to codeshare and reduce service to Israel either. |

You CANNOT use your passport on EXITING the US via land. There is no one there to ask you for it. Drive to Canada. The US booths are only on the inbound side. The first person to ask you who you are and why you're here is a Canadian official who decides whether you can ENTER Canada. |
