If it weren't for white liberals there'd be no Civil Rights Act.

False. Republicans had a part too. This is a common partisan Democrat statement that is false.

It's not about skin color.

Did you read my post?

It's about the hip-hop culture. It's violent. Very violent. Very aggressive.

It is all those things. But the culture is a reflection of the people who embrace it (culture and genetics go hand-in-hand). Are white people that embrace hip-hop culture (the true "wiggers") as violent as blacks that embrace hip-hop? My assertion is that "hip-hop" is a sub-in for "low-IQ blacks" -- which unfortunately is most.

You and Osmosis have to spin it to be about race because history is on your side, so it's the best ammo you have to win an argument that is about something totally different.

Hmmm, if you read my post, you'd know that while I did declare their behavior to be racist (or perhaps, more accurately, racism inadvertently stemming from elitism), I also said that it might be justified.

Walmart is patroned by a larger share of poor people, because quite simply, it's cheap, so regardless of where it is, the average IQ of people who shop there (emphasis on the average, because I shop at Walmart) is going to be lower than those who shop at Macy's or Bloomingdale's or Whole Foods.

Look at this shit that happened recently. I don't blame normal honest people for worrying about hip hop coming to the neighborhood.

I was gonna say, I find it hard to believe that New Haven CT is the bastion of progressive grassroots rock n roll music. I say it's NYC.

Yeah, indeed it is.

A lot of the bands and performers you see in New Haven, already have played in Brooklyn or Lower Manhattan or will eventually.

Unlike past generations, the kids today listen to greater varieties.
You can go to somewhere like Brooklyn Bowl and have a lineup of a progressive rock band, a hip-hop artist, some retro New Wave-fusion band and some weird avante-garde performer all in one night and they can still have common or overlapping fanbases.

You're equating a buncha drunks stumbling (violently?) to real violent behavior that's been exhibited at hip hop clubs.

All clubs have violent behavior is my point, if a death metal club were opening in the same location, or even a Juggalo/Insane Clown Posse club were opening in the same location, there would be no outrage.

Your also buying into Chris' propaganda that racism is somehow better if practiced out in the open. I'd say everyone is racist to a degree but to make bigoted generic statements like that is ridiculous. If it weren't for white liberals there'd be no Civil Rights Act.

It is, as a black man I'll respect a neighborhood like Howard Beach or Bensonhurst where they'll straight up tell me not to move to their neighborhood, than a neighborhood like Park Slope where'll they'll scheme behind my back.

Third, you're wallowing in the pity pool over racism in this thread anyway as you've not shown any evidence of racism, no evidence of the majority in the neighborhood being against this club and no evidence of the neighborhoods social makeup other than hearsay.

I've provided way more proof than "I'm sure you're not right" opinions you tried to counter the facts I provided you with. You can simply look at Wikipedia or even visit Park Slope to know that it's a mostly white neighborhood, why are you still denying that? I have no idea if the majority of the neighborhood is against it, but that minority is sure as hell being very vocal about it in a way I don't like.

Death Metal arguably encourages violence just as much as some Hip hop, but doesn't receive as much criticism.

Gangsta Rap is to Hip-hop or rap

If there are punk & metal clubs in the "heart" Park Slope then a Hip hop club should be allowed at the border of Park Slope.

Death Metal is a sub-genre. It's analogous to gangsta rap, not mainstream rap or hip-hop. I know you understand this, but you're a militant, so you just lie.

I can think of a few rappers who have been killed and many many more who have been involved in shootings, all traceable to the violent trigger happy world of hip-hop and perceived disses and keeping it real. BIG and Tupac are the most obvious example.

There are always shooting surrounding the hip hop world. When Disturbed and Papa Roach get into a shootout because one dissed the other in lyrics or a diss at a night club, we'll talk.

Face it, the residents fears are well founded.

BTW, that reasoning still sounds racist to me. If I lived in Brownsville, and some white people wanted to open up a coffee shop, but I protested because whites are higher I.Q. and snobbier as a result, then people would have a fit. Also, who the hell are they to judge my individual character based on the fact that I didn't go to college, or that I graduated later than the government says I'm supposed to.

Not at all, I've been listening to Hip hop for about 15 years & counting, and I can only name two mainstream rappers who were killed because of a feud. Big L, who was killed because the killer had a feud with his brother, and confused Big L for his brother, and Scott La Rock, who was killed for trying to peacefully resolve a feud. Before you bring up Jam Master Jay, no one knows why he was killed either.

Yes, I'll admit that Suge Knight is one figure that gives the hip hop world a bad name. You also need to realize that a lot of rappers really don't live the lives they rap about anymore, you think that Jay-Z still lives in Marcy? 50 Cent even admitted that he likes to instigate meaningless feuds with other rappers to boost his sales.

Before you bring up Jam Master Jay, no one knows why he was killed either.

LOL. Of course! It had nothing to do with the violent trigger happy hip-hop culture.

And these are just the dead. We're not counting the numerous shootings where no one dies. Too numerous to count.

Waka Flocka was shot at last week. It's the norm in hip-hop culture.

Suge Knight is more than "one figure". He's a prominent figure. I don't think that Fitty(who by the way, was shot of course, and other rappers mock that incident, like Judakiss) lives the life, but he could care less if young blacks are influenced by his "feuds".

And you just hit the nail on the head. If you want to be in the world of hip-hop, you pretty much have to have a feud(as you point out, Fitty does it to boost sales and perpetuate the black stereotype), for cred. And these feuds usually involve violent lyrics directed at an enemy, with the real threat of a shooting always being possible at any moment.

Very true. I like rock and Heavy Metal, but I HATE Death Metal, it's awful.

Death Metal is a subculture. It's not even comparable to hip-hop. It's closer to gangsta rap in terms of niche music.

Jayman brought it up in desperation to make his case.

Those Republicans were from way back when the South was SOLIDLY Democrats, before the Democratic party rightly told them to go fuck themselves and the South became Republican. Unfortunately the new conservative Republicans pushed out the rational Republicans.
