Notwithstanding it is only the 2010 Mid Year LOL, the list is comprehensive, if not exhaustive, and that you included the reasoning and rationale shows uncommon valor on your part, something that is often in short supply here, and is to be commended.That said, I was absolutely disgusted this morning to see myself included on this LOL. I remember in the inaugural 2009 LOL you removed me from the list because of some technicality even though I never belonged on the list to begin with. This time, I am going to file an official protest but I do not know the established protocal and procedures. Is their any memoranda or other documentation I need to fill out? In the future, I suggest you consider including errata sheets and/or related forms to fill out and submit electronically if one chooses to contest or otherwise dispute their inclusion on said list. In summary, although I am more concerned with the 2010 End Year LOL, I want you to take me off this list. With apologies to the people who are actually proud of making the LOLt and who wear it like some Badge of Honor, those like Selkirk and Clearaspect and the guy who links to Salon and that other guy who supports the flotillas, I am providing the following link as evidence of my growing anger and frustration and of my mounting campaign for dismissal from this list. That I even have to spend time on this issue is borderline ridiculous and absurd and you, of all people, should know better. I don't know anything about that but airplanes often taxi single engine and if there is an extended delay at the runway, like a Ground Stop, pilots often shut down one or more engines, sometimes all (APU), to save fuel. After my USAF career, I flew Airbus A320s for United Airlines out of San Francisco and, more recently, Washington Dulles. I am twice furloughed and awaiting recall. I hope to hear something towards the end of the year once our contract is hopefully signed and the Continental merger is hopefully approved although that may extend into next year. Finally, I respectfully ask you to take another look at my earlier post. The link shows in no uncertain terms my genuine remorse and sincere apology with regard to the implication that you were a xenophobe. Besides, it was SMAZ who called you that, not me. I suspect your abject dismissal of my request to be taken off the list was an emotional response, a visceral reaction if you will, that was not grounded in facts nor reality. This is understandable. The technology is advanced and the Airbus is highly automated/computerized and therefore, like the F16, the moniker "Electric Jet." At the same time, they are extremely responsive and a joy to fly. Other than the latter stages of climb, at cruise, and during managed descents, most pilots hand fly the aircraft.Pilots need to qualify on different aircraft only when assigned to it. OTOH, 320 pilots are qualified on 319s and 757 pilots can and do fly 767s. In simple terms, these are considered the same "family" of aircraft. So no, I am not qualified on the 737. I suppose, in that respect, it is similar to your old job in the MTA. If and when I go back, I'll probably be back on the Airbus or the 757/767 but with the merging of fleets with Continental, who knows anymore? |

CO brings nothing new to the table as far as their fleet. 737 (several versions), 757 (including the -300 version, which UA has never flown), 767 and 777. UA doesn't have any 737s currently, but retired the last ones less than a year ago, so there are probably still plenty of 737-qualified pilots at UA. Initially, UA pilots will fly UA jets and CO pilots CO jets until they get everything fully integrated, which can take some time. I don't think they have combined the Delta and Northwest pilot groups yet, though they may have done so for the F/As. |
