Point is that Hamlet's love interest's name is Ophelia, and she ain't a fat gurl.

The ghost is Hamlet's daddy, who is also called Hamlet.

The only people that die at the end are Claudius (Hamlet's uncle, who killed Hamlet senior), Gertrude (Hamlet's mommy, who married uncle Claudius after Hamlet Sr. kicked the bucket), Laertes (Ophelia's brother) and Hamlet himself. Ophelia and Laertes' daddy, Polonius, is killed by Hamlet before that big end scene; and poor old Ophelia drowns herself over it.

Tropical Storm Ophelia has formed in the open Atlantic Ocean but it is far from land.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Ophelia formed late Tuesday with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (64 kph).

The storm is moving west. The center of the storm is about 1,585 miles (2,551 kilometers) east-southeast of the Northern Leeward Islands. Some strengthening is expected over the next day or so.

Hurricane Ophelia Prompts Storm Watch in Bermuda, NHC Says

http://www.businessweek.com/news/2011-09-29/hurricane-ophelia-prompts-storm-watch-in-bermuda-nhc-says.html

Ophelia became the fourth hurricane of the 2011 Atlantic season, prompting a tropical storm watch in Bermuda as its winds reached 75 miles (121 kilometers) per hour and threatened to grow stronger.

Ophelia is a Category 1 hurricane on the five-step Saffir- Simpson scale and is about 770 miles south-southeast of Bermuda, where winds of 39 mph may arrive in two days, according to a 5 p.m. New York time center advisory.

“Some additional strengthening is forecast during the next day or so,” the center said.

Ophelia is one of 16 storms that have formed in the Atlantic this year, making this an above-average season. The typical Atlantic season, which lasts from June 1 to Nov. 30, produces 11 named storms with winds of at least 39 mph, according to the hurricane center.

The hurricane should track far enough to the east of Bermuda so that the strongest winds may only be about 45 mph, Jeff Masters, co-founder of Weather Underground Inc., wrote on his blog.

“We can’t rule out the possibility that Bermuda will receive hurricane-force winds yet, but the odds are low,” wrote Masters in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Ophelia’s hurricane strength winds of at least 74 mph extend 25 miles from its center. Its tropical storm-strength winds reach out 175 miles.

There is a 40 percent chance that Bermuda and southern Newfoundland will be struck by tropical storm force, according to a hurricane center projection.

Philippe Forecast

To the east of Ophelia, Tropical Storm Philippe churned in the Atlantic about 1,210 miles east of the Leeward Islands, which includes the U.S. Virgin Islands, with winds of 45 mph, according to the center. It is moving northwest at 13 mph.

The hurricane center’s latest track forecast has it holding together as a tropical storm into early next week as it continues east across the ocean. Earlier today it was expected to weaken to a tropical depression.

In the Pacific, Tropical Storm Hilary strengthened and now has top winds of 50 mph, up from 45 mph earlier today, as it moves north-northwest at 9 mph, according to the center. The storm is 695 miles west of Baja California.

I think you're probably mis-remembering that. While Bermuda rarely takes a direct hit from the eye of a hurricane (mainly due to it being so small that it makes hitting it dead on difficult), it does get impacted by hurricane force winds about once every 8-10 years.

Maybe you are thinking of Trinidad and Tobago? They are far enough south that the hurricane systems pass to the north.

Bermuda (AP) – Bermuda is bracing for tropical storm winds and heavy surf as Hurricane Ophelia barrels northward as a Category 3 storm.

The Bermuda Weather Service said in a statement that the storm will pass more than 100 miles east of the island on Saturday night.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida, said Ophelia has winds of 120 mph and was 225 miles south-southeast of Bermuda late Saturday morning.

The storm is moving north at 21 mph and is expected to start weakening Sunday.

A tropical storm watch has been issued for Bermuda.

Hurricane Ophelia has intensified to a Category 4 storm as it passes east of Bermuda and heads north toward Newfoundland, where the entire Avalon Peninsula is under a tropical storm watch.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Saturday evening that Ophelia had maximum sustained winds near 135 mph, up from 120 mph late Saturday afternoon.

It was moving north at 26 mph and was 140 miles east of Bermuda. It was expected to weaken rapidly late Sunday, though tropical-storm-force winds are possible on the Avalon Peninsula early Monday.

Ophelia is the season's fourth hurricane. Earlier, Ophelia caused flooding and cut off communities on Dominica.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Philippe was stronger but it remained far from land in the Atlantic.

Hurricane Ophelia weakened to a Category 2 storm on Sunday as it bore down on Newfoundland off the east coast of Canada, forecasters said.

Ophelia, which had earlier strengthened to become the third major hurricane of the 2011 Atlantic season, was still expected to be near hurricane strength when it passed near or over the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland early on Monday.

But its top sustained winds decreased to 110 miles (175 km) per hour on Sunday morning, making it a Category 2 hurricane on the five-step Saffir-Simpson scale of hurricane intensity, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

That was down from sustained wind speeds near 133 miles (215 km) per hour, when Ophelia swept east of Bermuda on Saturday.

The hurricane whipped up showers, thunderstorms and surf on the British overseas territory but had no major impact.

A tropical storm watch was in place for the Avalon Peninsula, but the Miami-based hurricane center said Ophelia was expected to undergo steady weakening through Monday.

Meanwhile, in the mid-Atlantic, Tropical Storm Philippe also weakened considerably on Sunday as it churned on a west-northwest track about 890 miles (1,435 km) east-southeast of Bermuda.

The hurricane center said Philippe, which posed no immediate risk to land, had seen its top sustained winds drop to 50 miles (85 km) an hour after revving up to near hurricane force overnight.

Forecasters expect Philippe to swing north later this week on a predicted track that will keep it away from the U.S. east coast. (Writing by Tom Brown; editing by Jackie Frank)
