I'll re-post this here:In all seriousness, I am not happy with the negative attention that the bill brings onto the state of Arizona and I believe it is being used by opportunistic Republicans: Jan Brewer, John McCain, Joe Arpaio, and JD Hayworth as well as opportunistic Democrats: Raul Grijalva, Terry Goddard, Luis Gutierrez to reflect two diametrically opposite viewpoints on immigration reform. It's a bad bill buti t's not the end of the world and in all honesty it'll likely get thrown out. It's actually accomplished something in that it has FINALLY gotten people to talk about realistic solutions to the border problem. However, again, the bad press and negative attention it brings to Arizona leaves something to be desired. But yes...I will take a wait and see approach...a wait and see to see if this was actually the spark that spurred meaningful discussion on immigration reform and to see what the effects, if any, of this bill actually are. |
