Trader Joes has a lot of cheap food....and healthy food. I have been to the one by the Home Depot on Metro and Woodhaven, but I also have one not too far from me in Lake Grove. Trader Joes has a lot of healthy food, and it's pretty cheap too.

For some nights, I have found it's occasionally cheaper to eat out than cook a meal. When I am cooking for me and my girlfriend it's one thing, but she works late, so many nights I just eat for myself, and it doesn't pay to cook a meal for myself. Often times take out is cheaper, but it depends on what I am eating. Sometimes eating at a bar and grill is even cheaper than take out...again, it depends on what you order.

No. It's too fucking hot down there. We had 90 temps until Halloween. We were setting records for weeks. It's cold in the north, and I'm loving it.

This high 20's, low 30's weather we have this week "f'in" sucks too. I much rather have the heat.

Also keep in mind that frozen fruits and veggies are cheaper and more nutritious.

If I don't eat fresh, frozen is acceptable. I won't touch canned vegetables. The only canned vegetable I can eat is perhaps corn, and perhaps some beans like kidney beans, garbanzo beans, etc. othersise I wouldn't even eat other canned vegetables, as they have no taste. String beans in a can are horrible, as are most other canned vegetables.

Trader Joes is an interesting concept, as it isn't as "snooty" as places like Whole Foods, but the food at least seems healthy. And it's quite cheap and affordable. Much of the stuff there is even cheaper than supermarket stuff, and better in my opinion.

It is healthier than the alternatives and of course it depends on what you order. The standard issue sandwich doesn't contain enough meat on it to be considered "gorging" oneself and if you're watching fat you can skip the cheese. All those chain stores publish their stats; you can see for yourself.

I don't think they have any more "fast food" than we have up here. and while, yes, they do have "southern style foods", it's not as much as other southern states. Florida is strange, as it's somewhat different than other southern states. It seems to be more "northeast" influenced in many parts. The food is quite similar down there to what I am used to in New York, without the "good stuff". It has much of NY's mediocre and average food.
