Yeah, in about 3 or 4 weeks I will take a weedwacker to the whole yard anyway, rake it into the grass, and ride over it with the riding lawn mower to winterize and get rid of everything. I already stopped spraying my Hostas with deer repellant. Itis good for 6 weeks when they are sprayed, and my last spraying must have been up the other day, as they are ALL sticks now, haha.I have three pepper plants left in a metal cage that they didn't get, and I may actually get a few peppers on those last plants (the first all season because of them, lol)....I am sure it drives the deer nuts every night, as they can sniff them but can't chew them.... :) |

This year's going to be interesting. Not going hunting this year since the local Bambis have succumbed to "blue tongue disease." (BTV or "Epizootic hemorrhagic disease") and it's decimating the herds up here. Should be down your way now and as a result, next year they'll probably be pretty sparse. This is what happens when there's too damned many of them and folks don't hunt to thin out the herd. Only saw a couple around here the past month or so, carcasses are probably rotting out in the forest. Seen a lot of turkey buzzards and other carrion eaters as well.So prep your grounds for next year, you may actually have a shot at it. |

I did not get ONE tomato this year because of those bastards...not one cucumber, not one zuccini. It was desimated this past summer. It was always a little nibbling, but never like this. The pepper plants I saved are three that they missed one night in the row and I put a cage around the last three back at the end of August, and there are a few small peppers on those, but now it's getting too cold, so I don't know if they will get any bigger.Anyway, starting October 1st, people are allowed to come into the woods in Suffolk County and hunt using bow and arrow. I don't hunt, but I know someone that does, and he may come and hunt the woods behind. We shall see. He came to me, and asked if I minded, and I said "Mind????", if you actually show up, and bring your buddies, I will actual supply the beer for afterwards!!".....LOL |

We impose a "turkey tax" on them ... each has to bag us one wild turkey (up to the limit of 6 total) in exchange for full access. We name our turkeys here. Thanksgiving, New Year, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Veterans Day and Lent. :) |
