The truth is that there are a lot of homeless and/or unemployed veterans dating back to Vietnam(most of the oldest soliders are no longer employable.). But we can give illegal immigrants the whole world while our soliders are pushed to one side.

Many of the homeless veterans that I see have drug problems. It's hard to help them until they kick that habit.

Say what you want about illegal immigrants, but they hustle and they go to work. They don't sit back and wait for handouts.

I totally agree. The 2 party system is a joke. You have mudslinging and one party grabbing power and making a mess of things and allowing the other party to gain power to do just the same.
If they had the average everyday folks as senators and congressmen compared to the 'tenured' politicians, we might be that much better off for it.

I just don't really care much about the Medved show, WOR should've kept the 3rd hour of Savage's show.

I'm sorry that the NFL success upsets you. Maybe if we talked baseball you will be happier because I will tell you what you want to hear not what you don't want to hear.

MLB has a luxury tax that the wealthy teams pay into and the poorer teams benefit from. The Yankees pay taxes and they still win and make money. Their tax money goes to teams such as the Twins who take that welfare money, if you will, and they pocket it. They don't even try to better themselves. They are living off of the dole that they receive.

Before you start feeling bad that the Yankees pay all of this tax, know that they used a little luxury tax loophole to help with their new stadium. The Yankees were able to avoid paying some of the luxury tax because they got to write off the money that they paid to build the new ballpark. Not only did NYC tax money pay for most of the stadium the Yankees got to pay less luxury tax because they spent money on a new stadium.

In a nutshell the NFL is a smooth running socialistic machine, and MLB is the dysfunctional welfare state that conservatives despise.

This isn't quite the same thing. The Republicans are seeing a rift based on the party's fundamental principles, which hasn't been seen since the split between conservative Democrats and progressive Democrats in the late 1960s. Yes, the Democratic party survived (though with a completely different set of principles), and the same could be true of the Republican party, but only if a better alternative doesn't come along.

Very good analysis.
The difference is that progressive principles were ascendant in the late 60's and those theories were actually seen in Nixon's policies even though he cynically parlayed conservative disenchantment with the Civil Rights Era into the Southern Strategy. These tactics allowed the GOP to carry both the South AND places like CA, PA, MI etc for the next 20 years. That GOP no longer exists.
Obama has no need to "triangulate" because the GOP's principles in both the economic and social arenas as well as their foreign policy ideas and their ability to govern are now discredited in the eyes of the American public.
The various wings that make up the modern GOP never really had much in common to begin with but it worked as long as they kept on winning elections or had the chance of winning after temporary setbacks. Now they are having circular firing squads because their message is no longer registering
and they don't know how to proceed in putting out one in a coherent manner.

Moreover, as Judge Bork's nomination to the US Supreme Court showed, even a nomination voted against by all members of the majority and one member of the minority can be reported out of committee.

True but the Dems knew that they had the votes to straight out vote down Bork on the floor. That would have not been the case with Alito. A filibuster would have been the only way to block his confirmation.

Well we'll just have to disagree as to whether someone that isn't currently in office or running for office can be relevant in politics. We've beaten that to death.

Yes, the once a year Alec or Matt may come up, as opposed to almost every other day that Rush is brought up by people on the left.

You obviously don't listen to talk radio. The conservative hosts talk about some Hollywood actor or another just about every day.

You also don't know or hang around people that listen to Rush. Most of the people that listen to him like him. They aren't liberals. I like him okay, but I know that he's an entertainer. But I talk about his show with other people that listen and they aren't liberal. I also talk politics with liberals and while they may bring up Rush disparagingly, it's not nearly as often as you think.

Do you ever talk politics with people? You seem like your impressions of Rush come form the media.

The huge increase in Puerto Rican and northern liberals is what has made Florida a blue state in every sense of the word.Remove the Cubans, and you still have the NY/Boston libs, the Jewish vote, and the black populations too.

Same with VA. All the minorities and libs from DC have flooded the VA burbs.

That's what I said. Obama's blackness did not affect the final result in FL or VA though it probably put him over the top in IN and NC but hurt him in MO.

His blackness helped in Florida. Minorities and liberals liked that and voted for him.

For all the relocated baby-boomers in Dade, Lee, and Pinellas Counties, Obama's candidacy was the realization of a dream started back in the 60's.

For Latinos in Florida, it was about sticking together as a minority, and breaking the monopoly white males have had on the White House. Next time, Latinos will be clamoring that it's their turn to win.

All of that would not have mattered AT ALL though if not for the Jewish vote.
