Commissioner Price is definitely not ignorant insofar as pushing his racist agenda, although he's utterly ignorant insofar as holding onto it. He knows precisely what a black hole is—he's not ignorant of that whatsoever—but he still believes the term to be "racist" in spite of the fact that it is not. Since it's affected by gravity, then the ray of light cannot travel perpendicular to any tangent line of the event horizon; the path would be parabolic. The light is decelerated and reaccelerated in a different direction (the parabolic path reveals that); at one point, the speed of the actual light is zero. |
